Learn how to build an app – and win $2000!

Everyone brings something to the team.

If you have ever thought about creating an app or think you have a good idea for an app – then our Hackathon is for you! We lock* you away in groups for 30 hours where you build an app from scratch.

Now before anyone protests with the ol’ “I don’t have IT skills” talk (um, you follow us so that’s all you really need!) – building an app is more than knowing how to code.

Code is the base point you build up from – what’s a product without a great user interface? So where are our psychology students who can share how to word things just right.

What about our artists who can create the brand and image perfectly?

And is there really a product if the market doesn’t know about it? So shout out to our marketeers to let you know how to sell your product.

Also, you will be pitching your app creation Shark Tank style to people who are part of the IT industry – so maybe have presenting as a skill set in your team.

We had some amazing ideas shared with us during our App Idea Challenge in trimester 1. So you can talk with us about one of these ideas or maybe you have your own.

You can join as an individual or as a team with registration closing Friday 19 July. If you are worried you don’t have the IT side down, still register and we will ensure you are in a group which has a coder.

Also, if the experience to learn something new isn’t enough incentive – how does the fact the winning group gets $2,000 sound? Yeah, we thought so.

* okay, not really lock lock as there are laws against that. You can come and go as you please. And we will feed you and not just because we have to, but because we want you to have a great experience!
